Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us on Friday evening, August 18th,
at our first Carlsbad Community Event at the 1927 Carlsbad Theater.
Starting with an incredible reception at New Village Arts across from the Carlsbad Theater
with amazing treats from Carlsbad Danish Bakery, Grand Ave Bar & Grill, Mas Fina Cantina,
Pizza Port, The Plot, Señor Grubby’s, and Wrench & Rodent, moviegoers enjoyed
delicious food, tasty drinks, caught up with neighbors and friends and celebrated in the
beautifully remodeled New Village Arts
And just across the street at 6:30 PM, the legendary Carlsbad Band,
The Langen Brothers, welcomed Save the Carlsbad Theater supporters to the beautiful venue.
After a fantastic Q&A with our Guest of Honor and Oscar nominee (“Who Framed Roger Rabbit”)
and 2023 Emmy nominee (“The Mandalorian) Dean Cundey, ASC, (pictured in phot above) delighted and
fascinated the audience with his thoughts on film and behind-the scenes
stories of working on “Back to the Future”, the classic film
(“Save the Bell Tower” & “Save the Carlsbad Theater”!) was screened to thunderous applause!
A great time was had by all!

Several night a week we would show classic movies on the big screen. You may have seen some of these films but if you haven't seen them on the big screen, you really haven't seen them. So grab a cozy seat, popcorn and a drink and enjoy your favorite classics!
What better place to get people together for a community event than in the heart of Carlsbad Village! With plenty of parking, food, drink and desserts in any direction and easily accessible by Coaster, car, walking or public transportation, the Carlsbad Theater offers the ideal location for Carlsbad to get together and celebrate, plan for the future and discuss this incredible community.
Live music, guest speakers, performances of local groups and organizations, "Live" podcasts . . . (the list goes on and on). The Carlsbad Theater offers the space and set-up to successfully support great entertainment for all ages!
My name is Ken Kebow and I've been in Carlsbad for over 40 years. As a child, I used to join friends and family and watch great films at the Carlsbad Theater when it was the only cinema in town. I attended Magnolia Elementary, Valley Middle School and Carlsbad High so I've been a part of the Carlsbad community for many years
I've always thought the venue would be very successful as a place to screen classic movies (much like the Ken Cinema in San Diego did for 80 years) and the theater would also be an ideal spot down in the Village where the community could gather for meetings and live events. With a sizable stage, a great audio and video set-up and plenty of seats at an ideal location, I feel the opportunities to use the space are limitless.
How can you help? Share this web site with the community and on social media and let your friends and family know what is happening. Everyone in Carlsbad I have talked to loves the idea of "keeping the Carlsbad Theater a theater" and with the support for the Carlsbad community, the downtown Carlsbad businesses and the owners of the property we can keep
this historical Carlsbad landmark!
We welcome any ideas for supporting this grassroots effort to keep Carlsbad Theater "a theater. Send us your thoughts.
